History:

Brush 22 started its career with the US Forest Service and is believed to have worked in the Angeles National Forest located in Southern California. Eventually, the engine was declared federal surplus and found its way here to Pennsylvania serving the DCNR Bureau of Forestry’s District 6. While with DCNR, the engine spent most of its time located at the Babcock State Forest in Somerset County. The engine was once again declared surplus by the State, after which it was offered to the Dauntless Fire Co.

When it arrived in Ebensburg, the engine was a dark forest green. The decision was made to repaint and reconfigure the engine. A small group of members completed this project in house.

Brush 22 continues to serve PA DCNR, responding to large wildfires alongside the Dividing Ridge Wildland Support Crew. While the Crew’s main coverage area is DCNR District 6, they are available to respond to wildfires throughout the state.
