Ronald Springer has been proudly serving the Ebensburg community since 1975. Ron is a life member, who is a second-generation member following in the footsteps of his father Cecil, and passes his knowledge and experience on to his son Scott, also a member at our department.
Ron has held the following offices during his career: Lieutenant (1980-1986), Assistant Chief (1987-1991), and Fire Chief (1992-1995), and Secretary (2003-Present). Ron holds the following certifications: Firefighter I, Hazardous Materials Technician NFPA 472, Fire Instructor I, EMT-B, BVR-T, Professional Certification in Emergency Management (PEMA), Certified Emergency Telecommunicator, National Academies of Emergency Dispatch, and Fire Science Certification, Pennsylvania Highlands Community College.
In addition to the many certifications, Ron has training in the following areas: Structural Burn, Advanced Firefighting, Radiological Monitoring, Vehicle Rescue, Ropes and Rigging, Ropes I, Salvage and Overhaul, Aerial Operations, Engine Company Operations, Large Diameter Hose, Rural Water Movement, Leadership I, Introduction for Fire Officers, Arson Investigation and Detection, Crime Scene Preservation, Pumps I, Pumps II, S.C.B.A., Wildland firefighting, and E.V.O.C.
Ron is a long time member of the following organizations: Cambria County LEPC (Chairman), Volunteer Fireman's Association of Cambria County, Central, Western, and State District Firemen's Association's, Pennsylvania State Association of Fire Instructors, Keystone Emergency Management Association, and the NFPA.
In his spare time, Ron enjoys spending time with his family, volunteering with the Bishop Carroll Football team as an assistant coach, and helping Holy Name Church with fundraising. Ron's education and work history brings many additional talents to the fire service and he is frequently consulted for his professional knowledge.
