Michael “Mike” Hawksworth has been proudly serving the Ebensburg community since 1999. Mike is a third-generation firefighter following in the foot steps of his grandfather John Sr., and his father John Jr. Mike began his service at the age of 14, and was 1 of 11 members of the first junior firefighter class.
Mike has served as the Parade & Uniform Committee Chairman. During his service, Mike made himself available for fundraising activities, and special events.


Mike has extensive training in the fire service and is certified as: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazmat Technician, Confined Space Technician, Vehicle/Machinery Technician, Pumper Operator, BVR-T, and EMT-B. In addition to these certifications, Mike has additional classes in: Structural Burn, Bus Rescue, S.C.B.A., Ropes, Confined Space, Trench Rescue, E.V.O.C., Flammable liquids, Wild Land Fire Fighting, Elevator Rescue, Engine Company Operations, Truck Company Operations, Snorkel Operations, Rural Water Movement, and Large Diameter Hose.
In 2006, through training with the Altoona Fire Department, Mike became a Pennsylvania State EMT-B.


He is supported in his efforts by his fiancée Kirstin.
Mike has recently been appointed to the Altoona City Fire Department as a career firefighter/EMT.
