Merle Link has been proudly serving the Ebensburg community since 1958. He is a second-generation life member who followed in the footsteps of his father, Albert. Merle has passed on his years of training and knowledge to his son Ken, who is a retired fire chief, and four grandchildren.

Merle has had extensive training in fire suppression, rescue, leadership, hazardous materials, engine company operations, aerial operations, etc.

Merle brings additional expertise to the fire department with 40 years of work experience with REA.

Merle has held offices including: Rescue Chief, Assistant Chief (1980-1986), Fire Chief (1987-1991), and Trustee 1993-2006.
