Kenneth Link has been proudly serving the Ebensburg community since 1978. Kenny is a third-generation life member, following in the footsteps of his father Merle, who is a retired chief, and grandfather Albert. Kenny passes on his knowledge and experiences to his four children, Josh who is a career firefighter with the Altoona City Fire Department, Becca, Dan, and Theresa all members of our department .
Kenny has held the following offices during his career: Hose Lieutenant (1987-1988), Fire Chief (1996-2001), Deputy Chief (2002-2005). Additionally, he is an original member of the Cambria County SHARP Hazmat Team and an officer for the past 18 years with the team. He has served on the following committees: Various truck committees, Fire Prevention (Chairman), Uniform/Gear (Chairman), and the Bid Committee. He is a member of the Cambria County, Central, Western, and State Associations. Kenny holds the following certifications: Firefighter I, Firefighter II, BVR-T, Hazmat Technician, Operations, and Awareness. He is an Adjunct Instructor for Penn State teaching in specialty areas of Chlorine Safety, Confined Space I, Confined Space II, and Basic Electricity for Water & Wastewater Operations. In addition to these certifications, he has many hours of training in Structure Burn, Fire Department Rescue, Firefighter Survival, S.C.B.A, Pumps I, Pumps II, E.V.O.C., High Rise Firefighting, Engine Company Operations, Truck Company Operations, Wildland Firefighting, Rural Water Movement, Large Diameter Hose, Radiological Monitoring, Leadership, various fire officer training. Ken is a Fire and Water Mediation Forman for First General Services.
He also brings a strong background and working knowledge of the Ebensburg Borough infrastructure with him. In his spare time, he can be found spending time with his family, as the Scoutmaster with Troop 22, and coaching Junior High Football. Ken is supported in his efforts at home by his wife, Diana.
