Like many other DFC members, Jerry Burkhart is a second generation firefighter.  Jerry joined the fire service in 1986 where he was a member of the Carrolltown Fire Company until moving to Ebensburg in 1990. Jerry was a member of the Dauntless Fire Company from 1990-1993 until a job moved him away from Ebensburg.  During his time away, Jerry maintained contact with the fire service in the areas where his job took him including Butler Township Fire Department, Dayton, Ohio (Firefighter/EMT-P and later Lieutenant); Woolrich Fire Company, Woolrich, PA (Firefighter and later Captain); and Treasure Lake Fire Company (Firefighter and later Captain).  He and his family returned to Ebensburg in 2003.  We are pleased to have Jerry back in Ebensburg.

Jerry is certified in the following areas:  Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazmat Operations, BVR-T. He is also a Pennsylvania State Paramedic.  Jerry has taken many classes pertaining to fire suppression, rescue, and hazardous materials response.

He serves on the Training Committee, Martketing/Finance Committee, and By-Laws Committee.

In addition to his fire and EMS background, Jerry has a bachelor's degree in safety sciences and is a Certified Safety Professional. He is a great resource to the fire department and community.

Jerry is joined in the fire service by his wife Beth.  They are part of the Dauntless “farm team organization” with their two future junior members, Jake and Nick.
