Dale Makin has been proudly serving the Ebensburg community since 1993. He is the first member of his family to join the fire department.
He has served as Hose Lieutenant (1996-1997), Engine Captain (1997-1998), Assistant Chief (2002-2003), and Fire Chief since 2004.
Dale has served on various committees including: Gun Raffle (Chairman), Training Committee, and House Committee. Truck committee for the refurbishment of Tanker 22-7. He has also been a committee member for the replacement of Engine 22-1 and Snorkel 22-3.
Dale is certified at the following levels: Firefighter II, Fire Officer II, Fire Instructor II, Hazmat Awareness, Hazmat Operations, Vehicle/Machinery Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, Incident Safety Officer, CORE, and BVR-T.
He also has many hours of training in Structural Burn, Elevator Rescue, Bus Rescue, Ropes and Rigging, Leadership I and II, Introduction to Officers, Arson Investigation, Scene Preservation, Landing Zone Operations, Rural Water Movement, Large Diameter Hose, Pumps I, Pumps II, Truck Company operations, E.V.O.C., and S.C.B.A.
Dale is also a Pennsylvania State paramedic, and trained as a Critical Care Paramedic at the Center for Emergency Medicine in Pittsburgh.
Dale is joined in his service with his wife Jamie, and is the father of future junior member, Derek.
